ELECTRONIC VOTING FOR ONLINE COMMUNITIES
==================
eVote is For Users
==================
eVote is an experiment kit for electronic democracy. Any user of the
computer network can design a vote on any subject. eVote handles all
the details. The details include:
+ "Yes/No" votes or "Numeric" votes.
+ "Single" items or "Grouped" items, examples being "Vote for One of
the Next Five" and "Distribute 20 Votes over the Next 10 Items".
+ A choice of:
+ "Public" items where we see how each other voted.
+ "Private" items where votes are secret.
+ "If-Voted" items where we can see IF but not HOW others have
voted.
+ We can change our own votes -- until the vote closes.
+ We can (or cannot) watch the vote tally develop.
A conference with eVote embedded is a true emulation of a "Town Hall
Meeting" because everyone has equal opportunity to bring up issues and
equal access to the voters' ears.
eVote has context sensitive help functions, online lectures on its use
and on the concept of "electronic democracy", and easy-to-understand
documentation.
========================
eVote is For Programmers
========================
eVote is an experiment kit for programmers too. Frontier Systems
offers a "Programmer's Kit" that contains an Application Programmer's
Interface for embedding voting functions into UNIX/C/C++ groupware
applications. Also, it contains the source code for eVote's user
interface. The user interface was especially designed to be embedded
into BBSs, conferencing systems and news-readers.
==================================
eVote is For System Administrators
==================================
eVote is easy to install and almost maintenance-free. At eVote's
heart is a patent pending, specialized database server -- a
vote-server called "The Clerk". When it is not busy serving the
eVoting community, The Clerk grooms the vote data, keeping them
compact and well-ordered, thereby minimizing both storage requirements
and data retrieval times.

warehouse operations applications. Dr. Davis authored two other
